Privacy Statement
Introduction
Your privacy matters to us and this document is intended to set out in plain English what data we request from you, why and how we handle it, all in line with current GDPR regulations. This privacy notice applies to this website and the business activities that Ferrotype Ltd carries out.
Who we are?
We are Ferrotype Ltd, a UK based company. We are what is known as the data controller. The person nominated to be in charge of the data – who might be referred to as the data protection officer although that sounds a bit grand for a company of our size, is Dominic Irons. In simple terms, you can contact us should you have any concerns over your data.
What information do we collect?
We are not an e-commerce site and so have no transactional need to request your data online. However like most businesses we rely on our website to communicate with customers and so we will be looking to request your data to better enable us to work with you. More specifically, we will do the following:
We use online forms such as our contact form and quote request form, where we ask for basic data including name, company, email and phone data. This enables us to be able to respond to your enquiry. We hold that data against your quote but we do not share it with anyone else;
We have an email newsletter and if you chose to subscribe to this your data is handled by Mailchimp on our behalf who process the emails. They are known as the data processor. They do not share your data with anyone else, it is securely stored by them for our use according to your legal opt-in;
Should you request a quote from us then we will record your data (name, company, email, phone) against that quote;
Should you proceed to placing an order with us then it is highly likely that we will need to share your data with the relevant company we work with to get your order completed and delivered. Again, that is purely for operational purposes and they are not then allowed to use that data themselves for any purpose other than producing and delivering your order. So this might be a company we work with to have your notebooks branded, or a delivery company to have your books delivered.
Currently, that’s it. That’s all we do with your data. Fairly harmless but it needs to be explained nonetheless.
How do we use personal information?
As mentioned above we only collect and use your data to enable us to process your enquiry, order or communicate with you as agreed. In more detail this means:
account set up and administration
delivering marketing and events communication
providing goods and services
legal obligations
What legal basis do we have for processing your personal data?
The legal basis we have for processing your data is contractual.
Where do we store and process personal data?
All personal data is stored securely.
Use of cookies and other technologies
We do use cookies to gather information from your computer to assist with our website analytics, so we can better understand how people use the website and improve the site accordingly. Information gathered is not personal but general to allow analytics to work. All computers should be able to exercise control over cookies stored on them but you will need to investigate this yourself as to how to access this, how to change the settings and what implications that might have.
Your rights in relation to personal data
As per the GDPR regulations you are able to access your personal information held, request any relevant correction or deletion of that data. To do so please contact us as listed below.
